Contest Mechanics (please read to avoid unnecessary questions)
CONTEST THEME : ARCHITECTURE IN BLACK & WHITE. "Architecture" is a general term to describe buildings and other physical structures, or the style of design of buildings and structures.
* Entries must be in black & white. You could shoot it using black & white (mono) setting in your camera, or convert it to black & white in post-processing. No sepia or other color toning.
ELIGIBILITY : Contest is open to all EXCEPT Focus Bulacan members.
FREE REGISTRATION : There is NO registration fee. Joining is absolutely FREE.
ENTRY LIMIT : Only 1 entry allowed per participant.
ALLOWED CAMERAS : You may use DSLR, point & shoot camera, mirrorless, or mobile phone, or any kind of digital camera.
DATE OF ENTRY : Photo entry must be new. Old photos are not allowed. PLEASE set your camera's date setting to the correct and current date : July 14, 2015. We will check the date in your photo’s EXIF data. Photos that do not reflect the current date will not be accepted. (Photo entries must be taken during July 14-July 18, 2015.)
ENTRY SUBJECT/LOCATION : Any kind of architecture or structure is accepted - AS LONG AS IT IS LOCATED IN BULACAN. Repeat : Entry subject must be located in Bulacan.
PHOTO PROCESSING : Processing photos is ALLOWED. However, PLEASE KEEP the RAW or unprocessed (straight out of the camera) JPEG file (we will know if the JPEG file has been altered). YOU HAVE TO SUBMIT BOTH FILES : your entry (which you may post-process) plus the RAW file/unprocessed JPEG.
* While processing is allowed, please DO NOT put watermark or border in your photo entry.
METHOD OF SUBMISSION : You may only submit entries by personally going to the exhibit. You may not submit online or via email. You also may not have someone else submit your entry for you.
* Please submit using your SD/CF card or USB drive. If you used a mobile phone, please transfer to your computer and copy to a memory card or USB drive. (We will not allow use of our computer to do mobile phone transfer of files.)
** Kindly prepare and identify your two photo files (RAW/unprocessed file AND your photo entry) for quick copying to our computer. Let us avoid delay caused by locating the files in your storage medium.
FILE NAME FORMAT : Rename your photo entry in this format : FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME.JPG
Example : JUAN_DELACRUZ.JPG
* Do not rename the RAW or unprocessed JPEG file. Keep it as is.
FILL UP DATA FORM : Upon submitting your entry, please write down your basic info on a data sheet we will provide.
DATE AND TIME OF SUBMISSION : Submission will be on July 18, on the first day of the exhibit. Submission time will be at 1-2PM, and 5-7:30PM. Submission will be closed before 1PM and between 2-5PM.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING : There will be no specific criteria for judging. The panel of judges will select which photo best represents the theme (Architecture in Black & White) according to their creative/technical/aesthetic preferences.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNER : Announcement of winner and awarding of prize will be on July 19 (2nd day of exhibit) at 7:30PM. We will contact the winner via the provided cellphone number. Winner must be at the venue during the announcement, otherwise he/she will forfeit the prize. If winner forfeits the prize, we will then award the prize to the 2nd placer, who will also have to be in the venue, so on and so forth.
PRIZE : There will only be 1 winner. The winner will get a brandnew SJCAM SJ4000 Full HD action camera with wifi and waterproof casing.

The Focus selection committee was made up of Competition Officer Jer Sandel and the Top 3 of our 2014 Photographer Of The Year competition : Jay Salvador, Chi Lopez, and Noel Crisostomo. Each selected a Top 3 among the final five entries, with a first place vote counting for 3 points, second place vote for 2 points, and third place vote for 1 point.
The result was unanimous. All four voted for the same entry as their top choice.
