MALASAKIT POSTCARD PROJECT

Malasakit Postcard Project was founded by cancer warrior and photographer Donie Cruz, born out of his desire to help fellow cancer patients who are in need of financial support to recover from their illnesses. Despite the subsidy provided by National Health Insurance Program, most Filipinos cannot afford their prescription medications. Many families do not know how to use their PhilHealth cards and even when they do, the benefits are often not enough in comparison to the health needs they face. When patients are discharged, they usually cannot afford the medicines they need to recover causing a vicious cycle of hospital visits.

Through photographs from Donie's travels around the Philippines and various contributors, the beneficiaries of this project write messages of gratitude and send these postcards to donors who'd be willing to support their journey to complete the healing. "Malasakit" is a Filipino word for care, compassion, or empathy. There is no direct English translation for this Filipino virtue due to its deeper meaning.

Purpose Driven Prints is happy to support this cause, which also aims to help and make an impact via the visual art of photography.
