Focus Bulacan celebrates Christmas with a get-together on December 14. Official members and applicants are strongly encouraged to attend our party, which starts at 11AM. This will be a potluck event, bring what you're willing to share. Focus member Xaxa Torres will serve as host and we are all welcome in their residence (exact address to be provided later).
The unveiling of photos from our Focus Portrait Project will be held during the event, and an on-the-spot judging will be conducted to determine the winner. Applicants will also be briefed and introduced before their formal induction in January. Group plans and activities for 2014 will then be discussed, including details of our Photographer Of The Year competition. Of course, there will be games and raffle prizes to add to the fun. Save the date! We'll see you soon, then! Update : Lots of food, lots of games and prizes, and even more laughs. Thanks to everyone who made the Christmas Party special. Special mention to Xaxa Torres for being the gracious host of the event. We all love food. Heck we also love shooting food with our camera or even our phones. Let's take our food-shooting skills to the next level!
Focus Bulacan's November 2013 is all about food photography. Get a prime opportunity to shoot yummy-looking, well-garnished and plated food in a fine-dining restaurant, Hapag Events Place. Before the shoot, an introduction to food composition techniques will be shared and discussed. Food lighting will also be tackled, and a demo on shooting with ambient light and shooting with flash will be performed. Participants will then be free to shoot the dishes on their own. After all the shooting, the best part : sharing and eating! Let's find out if the food tastes as good as it looks! See you on November 3! Other details provided on the poster. Update : Behind-the-scenes and group shot of the food shoot : Get ready to walk!

Update : Behind-the-scenes and group shots from Singkaban : Presenting a special shooting opportunity and challenge for Focus Bulacan members... As you may have noticed, Focus members don’t have profile photos in their website page. There’s a reason for that : the Focus Portrait Project. What is this project all about? Focus Portrait Project serves three purposes: - Provide each participating Focus member their own portrait taken by a fellow-Focus member - Give members a prime opportunity to test their creativity, imagination, and portrait-photography skills - Build “cameraderie” among members How is this done? We’re sure all of us are familiar with Christmas exchange gifts (monito-monita). Focus Portrait Project will be done almost the same way. The big difference is, we’re not giving out gifts, but giving each other portraits. 1. All Focus members have to join the Project. Exceptions are those who are based abroad. 2. Participating members will have their names included in a lot. Two Focus officers will pick one name each from the lot. The two names that they pick will be paired to become partners/buddies in the Project. The officers will keep on picking two names at a time until all of the names have been picked. 3. The pairing WILL NOT be announced publicly. The officers will privately inform the members who they have been paired with. 4. Each pair has a common task : photograph each other using your own concept, style, and taste. In other words : your partner will be your model, and you will be his/her photographer. Then you will also be his/her model, and he/she will also photograph you. Work both ways. 5. Once you find out who your partner is, we ask that you keep it between the two of you. You then coordinate and talk about how, when, and where you will do the shoot. 6. DO NOT POST the final photos or behind-the-scenes just yet, to keep the suspense. All the photos will be presented during Focus Bulacan’s Christmas Party. 7. All the photos will be put to a vote, with the Top 3 photos to be given special prizes. The Focus Portrait Project will also count toward the point system for our Photographer of the Year competition that will start January of next year. 8. Keep in mind that the photos will be included in the members’ profiles. So do your best to present your fellow Focus members in a good light. Funny or unusual presentation of your fellow member is accepted, as long as it does not demean the individual. Create a portrait that your partner will be proud of. 9. Drawing of names will be held on September 8 after the Singkaban Festival EB. We shall start informing participants about their partners immediately after. 10. In effect, we have more than three months to do this project (September-December). So schedule with your partner accordingly. Let’s avoid cramming. Three months is a lot of time. 11. For questions and other concerns, state them in the Facebook comment box below. Hopefully, everyone gets to join! Good luck and let’s all have fun! =) The buzz. The artists. The pain. The courage. And those beautiful ink creations. Focus Bulacan's official EB for August is INKONTROL, a multi-category tattoo competition. The event will be held at The Orchard in Malolos. Registration starts at 11AM, but we start shooting at 4PM, once the main competition starts. Organizers will give special tickets to Focus Bulacan, priced at only 100 pesos but exclusive of drinks. We need to finalize the list for the purchase of tickets. Kindly sign up at our Facebook page if you're interested in attending INKONTROL. We will use that signup list as basis for ticket distribution. Deadline for signing up is on August 7. We'll let the event poster do the rest of the talking... See you there! (Please refer to the Facebook page thread for the signup list.) Update : Behind-the-scenes and the group shot from Inkontrol : We're officially launching the group with a General Assembly. It will serve as orientation about the new group and other plans and details that await the members. All questions and concerns will be entertained and addressed. After the orientation, lunch will be served, to be followed by a model shoot. We know some members have been itching to get back to shooting, so to put them in the groove, we have invited models to grace Focus Bulacan's first-ever shoot. Leslie Lopez and Criselda Yumang have confirmed their participation. Before we do the pictorial, though, some FOCUS members will share tips and secrets on how to do better in photographing models. Should be a lot of fun. See you there! Update : Focus Bulacan's General Assembly was a big success! Over 30 members attended the orientation and formal launch of the group. It was an afternoon of fun, food, live music, and shooting models. We'd like to extend our appreciation to Bulacan's Sexiest Singles for helping us out with the models for the impromptu shoot. We'd like to thank the following for the success of the General Assembly : - Sherwin San Diego for the sound system - Gilbert Fajardo for the LCD projector - Noel Crisostomo and Chi Lopez for the acoustic song numbers - Bulacan's Sexiest Singles led by Aqken Agustin for providing our beautiful models for the shoot - Tania Magsakay for the hair and makeup work on the models - Leslie Lopez, Criselda Yumang, Trixie del Rosario, and Adette Elloso for being our lovely muses - The Cabanas management, for letting us shoot in its premises - Of course, all the Focus members who took time in joining the launch of the group For more photos from the General Assembly, click on the thumbnails below to view in full.
