Thanks to our guest judge Maureen Santos for voting with us. This one was literally and figuratively a photo finish. Here are the Top 3 of our SIGNS theme contest : 3rd Place : 21 points (8 votes) / Entry 10 / LHEO HALILI  ENTRY 10 2nd Place : 21 points (8 votes including 1st Place vote by Guest Judge) / Entry 4 / JOEL DOMINGO  ENTRY 4 1st Place : 22 points (11 votes) / ENTRY 9 / NICO SAN PEDRO  ENTRY 9 In many ways, this was a contest different from all the others we've had. This is the first time that all the entries received at least one vote. Second, this is by far the tightest in terms of margin of victory. Three entries were tied for first place late in the voting period, and it took the very last vote to break the tie. First to fifth place were separated by only 2 points, and first to seventh place were separated by no more than 4 points. Finally, this is the first contest that was won by a Focus Bulacan applicant (not yet an approved official member). CONGRATULATIONS TO NICO SAN PEDRO! Determination definitely pays off. 1st Place gets an extra 10 points, 2nd Place gets 7, 3rd Place gets 5, 4th Place (undisclosed) gets 3, and 5th Place (also undisclosed) gets 2 points for the Photographer Of The Year competition. The first round of our VERSUS Head-To-Head Tournament is over, and here are the winners who will move on to the next round. For our initial round, we had a theme of "Black & White Portrait". Kindly click the thumbnails to view the photos in full. Congratulations to all who advanced. The tournament brackets have been updated. You may check out the next matchups at http://challonge.com/focusversus. 2nd Round theme will be announced on March 20, while deadline of entries is on May 15. For the first of our quarterly team competition this 2015, we set up "prenup" or engagement session-style shoots for our members. We looked for real-life couples to be the models, then we asked for the help of some of Bulacan's top makeup artists to enhance the couples' looks for the shoots. There are 8 teams - each composed of a couple, a hair and makeup artist, and four Focus Bulacan members/shooters. The concept, the look, the location, the schedule, and other details of the shoot were all up to the teams' discretion and planning. Some teams even had the help of stylists. (To better understand what this LoveShoot is all about, CLICK HERE.) Each team was asked to submit five photos to best highlight their respective shoots. The five photos were to be judged as a set by our panel of guest judges. (For our team competition, only guest judges will vote on the entries, unlike our monthly PhotoMeet and Theme contests where Focus members and applicants also vote.) We asked the judges to view each team's photos as a set (merit of all 5 photos, not just 1) and pick their Top 5 teams. Of course, critique was also solicited.
