An all-time high number of entries for a theme contest also meant a record amount of difficulty in choosing the best ones. Fortunately, our voters rose to the challenge. Especially our guest judge Third Balleras. Thank you, sir! And to everyone who sent entries and voted. Now's the part when we reveal the best photos. The Top 3 : 3rd Place : 23 points (11 votes) / Entry 15 / JOEY RAMOS 2nd Place : 34 points (14 votes) / Entry 3 / GERALD GLOTON 1st Place : 74 points (31 votes) / Entry 17 / JER SANDEL Congratulations for another theme contest win, JER SANDEL! 1st Place gets an extra 10 points, 2nd Place gets 7, 3rd Place gets 5, 4th Place (undisclosed) gets 3, and 5th Place (also undisclosed) gets 2 points for the 2016 Photographer Of The Year competition. Participants automatically get 3 points for submitting entries. Here's hoping the number and quality of entries are sustained or even taken up another notch for our next contests. Cheers to everyone! Our next theme contest should be even more fun. Watch out for it. :) July 2016 Theme Contest "Balance" Entries (Click thumbnails to view photos in full) Voting Period : 30 July - 5 August 2016
58 exhibit photos. Each deserving to be viewed by the public, but which ones are their favorites? And starting this year, we invited a guest judge to pick out his favorite among the rest. Here are the winners of the People's Choice and the Juror's Choice contests of our Kwentong Kenyo exhibit last July 16 and 17. We provided ballots to exhibit goers who wanted to vote. More than 1,700 votes were cast. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for their favorite photo. (We will pick five voters who will each win 300-pesos worth of gift certificates from Boufé Botique and a Kwentong Kenyo shirt by Grey Label) Here's the Top Five of our People's Choice voting : 5th Place : "Jayvee Calayag, Mangangalakal" by Alih Viaje 4th Place (tie) : "Concepcion dela Cruz, Pigeon Caretaker" by Joey Ramos 4th Place (tie) : "Leo dela Cruz, Pedicab Driver" by Mark Anthony de Leon 3rd Place : "Danny Fajardo, Public School Teacher" by Amen Alcoriza 2nd Place : "Lou Jason Fausto, Tattoo Artist" by Celine Villafuerte 1st Place : "Alter Dondon Bernal, Swimming Instructor" by Chi Lopez Congratulations, Chi! Our exhibit opening's guest of honor Ronald Jayme - Manila Bulletin's Picture Perfect section editor - was also tasked to select the Juror's Choice. After careful thought, he picked the photo below... Juror's Choice : "Ricardo Calzo, Gardener/Businessman" by Julius Calzo Julius Calzo's portrait of his father, Ricardo, doing his routine at his garden, was our Juror's Choice. Congratulations, Julius! Present at the awarding was the Calzo family. A happy and proud moment before the Kwentong Kenyo exhibit ended. Cheers to Focus photographers who were part of the exhibit, especially to those whose photos stood out. We'll do it again next year! :) |
